I'm not a developer. I want to be upfront about that. I'm just a regular person who one day noticed my keyboard was acting weird — some keys weren't registering, some felt inconsistent — and I wanted a quick, simple way to figure out what was going on.
So I did what anyone would do: I Googled it. And honestly? Everything I found was a mess. Ads everywhere, sketchy-looking sites, tools that wanted me to download something just to check if a key works. I couldn't find anything that was just... clean and honest.
I got frustrated enough that I thought — okay, I'll just make the thing I'm looking for. So I did.
KeyTest started as a basic keyboard checker. But over time, I kept running into the same problem with other tools too — mouse testers, mic checkers, typing speed tests. They all had the same issues. So I kept adding to it, one thing at a time, until it became what it is now.
I'm not trying to build a business here. I just wanted something useful to exist, and it didn't, so I made it. I kept it free because that's what I would have wanted when I was searching for it.
