KeyTest (keytest.info) is a free, browser-based tool that lets you test your keyboard, mouse, and microphone directly in your web browser — no account and no download required.

This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit keytest.info, how it is used, and what choices you have. By using this website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

Information We Collect

KeyTest does not ask you to create an account or submit personal information. All keyboard, mouse, microphone, and typing features run entirely in your browser — your keystrokes, clicks, audio, and cursor movements are processed locally on your device and are never sent to our servers.

However, like most websites, our hosting server automatically records standard log data when you visit:

• IP address
• Browser type and version
• Pages visited and time of visit
• Referring website

This data is used only for server administration and security. It is not linked to your identity.

In addition, third-party services described below (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) may collect data about your visit through cookies and similar technologies. Please read their sections carefully.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. KeyTest uses both first-party and third-party cookies:

First-party (functional) cookies and storage:

• kt-theme — stores your light/dark mode preference in localStorage.
• sidebar:state — remembers whether the sidebar is open or closed.

These contain no personal data and are never shared with anyone.

Third-party cookies:

Google Analytics and Google AdSense place their own cookies on your device (see the sections below). You can opt out of these or manage them through your browser settings or the options described in each section.

Google Analytics

KeyTest uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use the site, such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and general location (country/region level). This information is used to understand traffic patterns and improve the website.

Google Analytics does not receive your name, email address, or any directly identifying information. The data collected is aggregated and anonymous at the individual level.

Google AdSense and Advertising

KeyTest uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense uses cookies — including the DoubleClick DART cookie — to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other sites on the internet. This is known as interest-based or personalised advertising.

The DoubleClick DART cookie allows Google to serve ads to you based on your visit to keytest.info and other websites. Google uses this cookie to improve ad relevance for you.

Microphone Access

The Mic Tester feature requests permission to access your microphone, but only if you explicitly click "Enable Microphone." Your browser will show a permission prompt first. Audio is processed entirely within your browser using the Web Audio API — it is never streamed to or stored on any server. Any recording you make stays in your browser's memory until you leave the page.

Third-Party Privacy Policies

This Privacy Policy applies only to keytest.info. Links to external websites and third-party services (such as Google) are governed by their own privacy policies. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of any third-party sites.

CCPA Privacy Rights (California Users)
